TELL ME MOHAMED

Documentary I 30 min I 2012 I France

The documentary follows the life and art of Mohamed Lamouri, a visually impaired Algerian singer who makes his living performing in the underground tunnels of the Paris Métro. After moving to France, Mohamed finds refuge, expression, and connection through music, specifically by singing classical Algerian Raï—most notably rendering emotional covers of the legendary Cheb Hasni.

Framed through intimate encounters and conversations, the film explores how Mohamed navigates life in Paris as an immigrant and street musician, capturing his daily routines, his relationship with passengers on the underground transit lines, and his dedication to his craft despite personal and physical challenges.
